A devotional full of gems curated for you by Hope Abad.
I believe that this five day devotional will support you in taking a deeper dive into the sermon from April 21st, 2024.
Over the next days, I encourage you to explore themes of creation, purpose, holiness, and redemption, reflecting on how to integrate these spiritual truths into our daily lives. Study along with me.
Day 1
Psalm 148:5
In the beginning, the Lord's command brought forth all existence, a divine expression of creativity and intent. Creation is not merely an event of the past but echoes continually as a testimony to the Creator, inviting us into an understanding and appreciation of our own existence.
As we reflect on creation and our unique part within it, recognize the intentionality of God in every detail. Your presence is no accident, and our first step in a life of worship is acknowledging the One who fashioned us all with purpose.
What does the phrase 'let every created thing give praise' stir within you?
How does recognizing yourself as a purposeful creation of God change your view of daily life?
What specific part of creation do you feel most connected to, and why?
Pray for a renewed sense of wonder towards God's creation.
Ask God to reveal your unique purpose in His grand design.
Day 2
Genesis 1:27
God, as the divine artist, made man and woman in His image, instilling in us attributes of the Creator. To be made in His image is to reflect His nature, resonating with His desire for holiness and creativity in our lives.
Contemplating our creation in God's likeness compels us to consider how we might express His character in the world. In creativity, work, relationships, and worship, we're invited to mirror the holy attributes of our Maker.
What does being made in God's image mean to you personally?
In what ways do you creatively express God's character in your life?
How can you pursue a life of holiness in everyday actions?
Seek discernment for embodying God's character in your decisions.
Ask for opportunities to showcase God's creativity through your talents.
Day 3
1 Peter 1:16
'Be holy, for I am holy,' declares the Lord. In context, holiness is about separation for a divine purpose, living distinctively in accordance with God's design. Our call to holiness is a call to live set apart, not isolated, but unique in our ethics, choices, and priorities.
Embracing a holy life involves more than outward appearances; it requires an inward transformation, an alignment with God's will and ways. The journey to holiness starts with small steps of obedience and grows into a lifestyle.
In what areas of life are you challenged to live distinctively for God?
Reflect on an occasion when small steps of obedience led to spiritual growth.
What does a lifestyle of holiness look like in your current season of life?
Ask for strength to take steps toward holiness in a specific aspect of your life.
Pray for clarity to recognize areas where God is calling you to be set apart.
Day 4
Romans 12:2
The transformative power of God renews our minds, guiding us from conforming to worldly patterns to living by the will of God. Such transformation requires a daily surrender, a willingness to allow the Holy Spirit to reshape our understanding of success, satisfaction, and service.
As believers, we're entrusted with the mandate to influence our families and communities through our transformed selves. Our attitudes and actions serve as a beacon, reflecting the heart of God to those around us.
How can you practically renew your mind to avoid conforming to the world?
What does a transformed life look like in your workplace or home?
In what ways has your faith influenced your family or community?
Seek wisdom on embodying transformation in your daily interactions.
Pray for courage to be an agent of change in your circle of influence.
Day 5
Ephesians 2:10
We are God's handiwork, crafted for good works that God ordained beforehand. As new creations in Christ, we carry within us a divine purpose, one that aligns with God's design and brings glory to His name. This awareness should shape our pursuit of vocation, community, and service.
Walking in the good works prepared for us leads us not only to bless others but also to fulfill our role in God's story. Our acts of kindness, justice, and love are not just good deeds but holy tasks assigned by the Creator.
What 'good works' do you sense God has prepared specifically for you?
Reflect on how your spiritual gifts have been used to serve others.
Identify one step you can take to walk more fully in your divine purpose.
Contemplate the significance of being God's handiwork and pray accordingly.
Ask for awareness and opportunities to perform good works in your daily life.
