The Spirit of Giving: Stewardship That Reflects God’s Heart

What’s in your heart will always show up in how you live—and how you give. In part two of our series on stewardship, I shared a word that’s heavy on my heart because I believe it’s foundational for how we grow as a church, as families, and as individuals walking with Christ.
God is a giver. Period. From the breath in your lungs to the time, talent, and treasure you carry—every good thing comes from Him. And because we’re made in His image, we’re called to carry that same spirit of giving in our daily lives.
Now hear me—this isn’t just about money. Stewardship is about how we manage everything we’ve been entrusted with. Your kids? You’re not just raising them—you’re stewarding them. Your job? Steward it. Your marriage? Steward it with love and intentionality. You can’t pray for more if you’re not taking care of what you already have.
And listen, if God is a generous giver, then being like Him means learning to give joyfully—not grudgingly. It means showing up with our whole selves and asking, “How can I love better? How can I give more?” Because real love gives. Real faith gives. Real discipleship gives.
Family, I challenged our church to look in the mirror and ask: Are you walking in the spirit of giving—or the spirit of taking? Because one leads to freedom, and the other will always leave you empty.
Let’s be generous. Let’s be faithful. Let’s be stewards.
“Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will be also.” — Matthew 6:21
